Well, I've actually restyled my ubuntu 8.04 a bit. The desklet stuff is not quiet what I wanted, but I don't get aDesklets to work, so I have to use gDesklets.
I'm not sure who did the wallpaper. So I cannot give any reference to the initators. The same thing with the skin or desklets. I'm still learning to do such stuff by myself, but until I'm able to do so it'll take some time.
Well, I've changed some things and you can make it look even better without needing power of your pc. Normally it looks like 7.10 But you can chnage 7.10 as well.
And you can run programs only designed for windows. Quick dic Is one of those You can run them with a program called wine. And it doesn't need much more power to do this. In fact there is just a slight difference. The only thing you'll have problems with is gaming on linux.
Because games are the most intense applications you can run. And I had some problems with settings and stuff, and you need an real emulator for games. Because wine is no emulator. But you can run nearly every windows app. and most of the open gl games with it, but games are buggy some times if you use wine.
